❗200,000 power banks recalled from Amazon due to fire risk
In the US, approximately 210,000 INIU portable power banks with 100,000 mAh, model BI-B41, which were sold on Amazon from August 2021 to April 2022, are being recalled. The devices, black and blue in color, with the INIU logo and a paw-shaped LED, overheat and can catch fire, CBS News reports. The manufacturer received 15 complaints of overheating, and in 11 cases, fires occurred. Buyers were injured, and property damage was reported. The recall only affects power banks with serial numbers 000G21, 000H21, 000I21, and 000L21. Buyers are advised to immediately stop using them, check the number on the INIU website, and arrange for a full refund. Firefighters warn: lithium-ion batteries often catch fire. If there's a burning smell, color change, heating, swelling, leaks, or unusual sounds, the device should be immediately disconnected. Such batteries cannot be thrown in the trash — they are accepted at municipal hazardous waste collection points.
