Levi Strauss, McCormick, Columbia Sportswear and other manufacturers reported price changes, writes the Wall Street Journal. Popular brands of clothing, electronics, and home goods are revising their price tags. Economists note that January increases were generally higher than usual. In some cases, the increase was almost 10 percent. This is the sharpest jump in the cost of goods in the last 12 years. Companies explain the increase with tariffs, the need to pay higher wages, and expensive health insurance. It is forecast that more than half of small business owners will further raise prices in the coming months.
